To the Oklahoma Sooner Family: I’m not able to speak on behalf of everyone from Buckeye Nation but, I personally can’t say enough about the kind and generous hospitality extended to me and my friends during our recent trip to Norman for the Oklahoma versus Ohio State game. Your fans are passionate about their team, demonstrate a depth of knowledge about CFB, and embrace the traditions of our two storied programs with class. Before, during and after the game everyone was kind, gracious, and generous in extending a warm welcome. In my 40 years as a tOSU season ticket holder, having traveled to over 30 away game venues, I can honestly say that y’all set the bar mighty high. I only hope that Buckeye Nation is able to return the favor in kind when y’all travel to Columbus next fall. Thank you for such a memorable trip and best of luck to the Sooners the remainder of your season, and their pursuit of a! Big 12 championship. Boomer Sooner and Go Bucks!
I had to check 3 times to make sure this was a oktx post and not an aggie post.
You don't have to have a good defense if you can score on almost every possession. All your D has to do is to get a couple of stops by your doing or the other teams (turnovers, penalties, bad series) and you have a chance to outscore the other team.
Cal's passing attack and rushing when they had to was a bad matchup for the Texas D. They didn't turn the ball over and made some key plays to keep drives going. They took advantage of a bad night in the back end for Texas with no pressure upfront, that proved to be a terrible combination. I believe that Texas beats Cal 8/10 times, but Cal won the one they will count in the books.
I read an interesting perspective today. What if Texas lost to ND by 10-14 points, but beats UTEP and Cal? The team is 2-1 with going into the bye week and everyone would talk about them team being right on track. While I saw some things I certainly do not like, I also am trying not to knee jerk over one game on the road. Most Texas fans thought they would lose a game or two they shouldn't (Cal so far), but win some games they shouldn't (ND…TBD).
Glad to see you've backed away from the cliff. Most of these games will be highly entertaining, you can bet that. Let's just enjoy the ride.
If you want to win championships, you need a defense. JFF and his high flying offense couldn't overcome a **** poor defense. Expecting your offense to score almost every possession, in every game doesn't work. They will have an off night or two, and if your defense is garbage you're done. That's why they say defense wins championships.
When you're scoring 40 points and losing games, that's bad. Nothing like scoring 42 on bama and losing, or losing 3 games in strong's tenure after scoring 40 points. It stings. I love this team this year where all we need is an AJ McCarron type QB and not a JFF to carry the load.
I have high confidence that Strong will fix the defense. We have the players, there was just too much confusion in the secondary last game. Most of Cal's TDs were on busted coverage.

I am in the same boat. Texas should have a great defense and I want a great defense. I also believe the defense will be much better as Big 12 play starts. I think this because I believe they are going to simplify the defense and put the young guys like Brandon Jones, DeShon Elliott, Jeffrey McCulloch, Malcolm Roach, etc on the field and let them go compete. I also think Strong will take over the defense or BJM will if they need too after hearing the press conference. The problems Texas had on Saturday night can be fixed.
In the Big 12 you better be able to put up 40-50 points if you are going to have a chance week in and week out and it looks like Texas can do that now. They just need the defense to come around. At least we know we are not doomed from the start in Big 12 play with a bad offense. You can't win the Big 12 without a good offense, but you can win with a bad or average defense.
Shane Buechele on the late interception - "I saw the safety. It was just a bad throw." #HookEm #Texas #Accountability

I like him a lot and think he's a winner! He's going to be fun to watch grow up and I think you guys finally have another QB. Now if they'd just leave him in the game and let him run the offense!
