Having problems with A Taxi in Crosby

Long story short my guy got sick and sold his business without contacting me and now some other dude has my deer. I made contact on July 17th and he was supposed to get back with me the next day to tell me if my cape was good or not. He told me my old taxi had a freezer go out and they lost a lot of capes. Well fast forward to September 16th and I haven't heard a single word from him. I have sent 3 text messages and left 3 voicemails with no response. I live in Baton Rouge so I can't just hop over there but no communication is starting to worry me. This is my best deer I have ever shot and I have 4 or 5 years history with this deer.

I will also need recommendations for a good Taxi from Houston to Baton Rouge area.

I am not ready to throw the name out there just yet but if anyone has had problems with a Taxi in that area please PM or if you personally know one that might be them and can check on my deer.

      DANG! Hate to hear that.

These usually don't turn out well.

Glad I don't have to worry about that using a small town taxi I know

If it was my best deer...I would make it a point to show up in person and have any discussion that needs having.
IF that didn't work - attorney.

Best to go in person or have someone go for you. I know it's a long drive but it's your best deer ever! Just give the name, it may be that some one knows him and go talk to him for you.

I say screw the cape and get the horns. If you need me to, I can go grab them. That being said, I am leaving for a week tomorrow to go chase elk. I will be back in Houston on 9/25 though. Shoot a deer this year and use the cape as replacement. Just my $.02

I didn't want to give the name just yet. I actually just called and someone answered and said they have my deer. Said the cape was bad but they have another one. I requested a pic of my deer antlers to be sent to me and they said they would do it this after noon.

Hopefully it's nothing more than poor communication but 3 text and 5 calls with three voicemails and no response is really poor communication.

I'm in Baton Rouge, too. I can recommend a good taxidermist around here if you need it.

Hmmm, there are several TBHers in that area. Someone surely can go check for you.

I'm waiting to see if they follow through with what I asked. They said one guy didn't get good reception in the shop and to contact them on another number. I asked for them to send a text because I didn't have a pen but I haven't got a text yet.

Hate to hear that! Like Burnadell said I'm sure a TBHr can check things out for you.

I recommend Jason (Texantax) here in TBH. He is located in Tonball. Great guy and Taxi! Here is my wife's buck he just finished and also my buck from last season. Pics don't show the great detail very well.

Man this thread makes me feel like I'm living in a dejavu world.
Back in the 80s during high school I worked about 3 weeks one summer for a taxidermist in my home town that was taking over the family business from his father. The dad had grown a very successful business over the years but health issues had forced a quick exit.
The son was a real POS and...between juggling too many women and dabbling in alcohol (and whatever else) issues he single handily ran the business into the ground. During just the 3 or so weeks I worked for him I remember him receiving several calls from the place he used to rent freezer space from telling him their freezer had gone out and that he needed to make arrangements to move all the hides and capes they had in storage.
We made a few trips to the freezer storage and moved about half of the capes to various places but he never made arraignments for the remaining hides. After about 4-5 days I knew this guy was going to be in deep sh** because several of the hides I was hired to "flesh" had already started to "slip", which means the hair was rotten to the point it dislodged from the skin. End result...the hide is ruined!

I cut my losses that day and walked out of there...never even receiving a DIME for the 3 weeks of work either. My ole man was HOT!
But I know there were some guys that spent a fortune on trophy hunts for deer, bear, caribou and who knows what else...that were A LOT MORE P***** OFF THAN I WAS!

As suggested...screw the cape since its most likely history IMO but get your horns!
