I would see if taking the washed tickets to the ticket seller would possibly get some kind of replacements

If I washed someone's tickets I would not dare ask for payment, probably try and get some replacements and never mention my screw up : D

I wouldn't pay but wouldn't give up on trying to get replacements.

If he's a man, he shouldn't expect you to pay him anything.

There's got to be a way to get replacements. Credit card records? Something.

No way in heck I would even consider asking for payment in that situation. That kind of thing would never even cross my mind!

If I were in your shoes and he asked me to pay for them even though they were ruined, Id probably laugh him out the door!

In my opinion you offer to pay and you learn something about your cousin that you probably already know.

If I were your cousin I wouldn't ask for the money nor would I take if you offered.

If I screwed up and washed the tickets I would be buying new ones. Might not even say anything but if a did would not expect you to pay for my mistake.

Best case, I would offer to split but I'm not paying in full for his screw up.

Certainly there has got to be away he can get them replaced.
^^^This. Surely he has a credit card receipt or transaction record. If he showed them the wadding up remains, with the receipt, they may print new tickets.

Is he the kind of guy that could be scamming you for the price of the tickets? Maybe never really had them......? Most likely were bought with credit card....not cash and he should be able to show proof that they were purchased. If indeed they were I would offer to split the damage with him. I have cousins that I like a lot but............don't think they would scam me for that amount of money.
