Nothing wrong with #4 buck, either. 27 pellets in 2 3/4 inch and 41 pellets in 3inch. It won't penetrate like 00, but it will penetrate plenty at the distance you are shooting, and the probability of getting one or more in the brain is good. I've killed lots of animals with #4 buckshot.

I prefer 00 buck as well. Always worked great for me.

I wounded a huge hog with my .270 one time (wasn't ready and I rushed a shot). So I started heading into the brush with my 20 gauge with slugs and buck shot at the ready.

I got no more than 10 feet into the brush when I turned around and went back. I didn't have much confidence in the 20 gauge quickly dropping a wounded hog.

Drycreek--I can see at least a 5-bagger in that set, and maybe more if you get a SxS 12-ga and let both barrels go at the same time-

Do you have to have a special barrel or you can you use the same barrel you use for duck hunting and squirrel hunting? If so, is full choke the best?

No special barrel just be sure you can shoot buckshot out of the choke you have. Some you're not recommended to shoot buckshot or slugs through. I've shot buckshot out of a full choke before and everything was alright. My hog huntin shotgun has a Carlson's Dead Coyote in it which is a choke designed for larger shot. I use a Cylinder Bore choke if I'm shooting slugs.
