    AC unit upgrade help

The April Hail destroyed our AC unit. Thankfully the insurance is paying for a replacement.
Now I'm wondering what to get to replace it with... The contractor is saying a Rheem 1415 SEER is pretty good and for an extra $1000 a Lennox 1415 SEER unit.

What do y'all recommend? please give as much info as you can since I'm no expert when it comes to this,,, (brand, model, SEER, etc...)

Between the two go with Rheem. Parts cheeper for Rheem if needed. Between the to as it works. Not much difference. All parts same manufactures.

As of seer. 14 is lowest you can get now. If he's trying to up grade to higher seer. Ok if your planing to live there 10 more years.

Easy to see what savings. Go on net find seer calculator. Put in numbers and see what you save per year. If you make your money back in 5 years or less ok. If not. Then it's a judgement call.

Have them do a load sheet.

American Standard. Highest Seer rating that they will allow you to get. American Standard has been rated #1 by consumer reports for I don't know how many years in a row.

As long as they are installed correctly and no corners cut either will do you a great job. We sell a lot of rheem 14-16 seer single stage because of the cost difference. So far we have had great success with them too. If you get into two stage or complete variable speed (highly recommended if a forever home) then I would steer more toward Lennox or Trane. My office is in Mesquite and you can look up my company reviews here. Walker Ac. If interested I would gladly get you a comparison bid, I also offer a little tbh discount on new equipment . Either way if you need help with anything or questions throughout the process I will gladly help anyway I can. Good Luck

Pm me the size and gas or electric and unit in closet or attic and I will shoot you a number so you have an idea.

Did I get the TBH discount?

Your guys put a system in for me last week and are currently replacing all the duct work on half the house. My wife is already telling me to get a quote for the duct work on the other side of the house. I can vouch for the Walker crews. Extremely polite and professional.

I don't know the name of the AC contractor but the Contractor who is hiring different contractors for different types of work around the house is Quantum Builders.
They are getting me a Rheem 3.5 Ton 14 Seer Electric (outside and inside units) the inside unit is in a closet inside the house (one story 1800 square fees house)

Yea I don't know Quantum Builders. With all the storms in Wylie and surrounding areas there is a a lot of new ones popping up.
Sounds like they need to do a load calculation on the house to make sure the 3.5 ton will work. Based off just square footage a 4 ton maybe a better option but with a load calculation it takes into consideration of the insulation and every factor of the home.
A rheem 4 ton HEAT PUMP installed should run between $4800-5800. There is some other factors that come into play and could run a little higher but if just swapping out boxes they should be in that range.

Thanks for the kind words. Every now and then my guys do things like they should

Let me know when you are ready for the other half. I do all the duct designing for maximum air flow.

That good news. We really like the Lennox units and almost would have went 100% with Lennox but there service to us is not what we expected it to be. We have not seen a sales rep working with us on products and pricing in a year

well, crap,,, I thought I had it narrowed to Trane and Lennox but after finally getting home and reading some reviews, Lennox doesn't have very good reviews (scarce, hard to find and expensive parts, complicated units and hard to work on) and the contractor I have cannot provide Trane, since they're American Standard dealers...
It's going to be a 3.5, 14 seer unit just stuck on which brand,,,
Never thought this was going to be this difficult.
any suggestions between Lennox and American standard?
