The Polaris and Kawasaki's are both belt driven. However, my Kawasaki's could not handle occasional submersion without breaking or slipping belts and my Polaris' have handled it fine.
The Honda Pioneers in smaller size are built on an ATV frame, and I believe may be chain driven as a result.Last edited by Pineywoods Paul; 07-03-2016, 05:30 PM.

My dads 570XP regular cab drove me, him, and brother (had to be close to 600lbs) straight across a rice field like is was a paved road. I have no doubt it would do the job for me 90% of the time. Only concern is I talked to a guide friend of mine from NM and he said you really need at least a 700 for those mountain roads.... BUT this elk hunt in Sept may be the only time it sees the mtns anyway.... I'm stuck between the 570XP or going all out on a 900XP, either way it would just be a regular cab!
And thanks for all the replies guys, all the info helps! Keep it coming!

Good to know!!! That pretty much rules out the need for a 900 then, thanks.
Almost makes me still consider the 2012 500 EFI for $6500. He only put 200 hours on it and it seems well taken care of, I just don't know anybody with one to ask how well it can handle a full load
