    String Silencers

I need to get some string silencers on my bow this week and was wondering what everyone used now days. I've had good luck with the old fashioned cat whiskers but thought I might try something different. I have used string leeches in the past but was discouraged with their lack of longevity.

    What recommendations do you have?

    An STS system

I shoot a Mathews, so the string silencers are built in, never needed anything else.

On Heather's Hoyt, it was loud, very loud, tried everything, went to an STS and it works great.

I agree about the string leeches, they are not very good IMO.

Good old fashioned whiskers are still the best IMHO......

Nothing was ever as effective as String Leeches when I used string silencers.

With the Drenalin I don't use any now.

If you used the first generation String Leeches, I believe they improved significantly on their longevity.

I can't really argue with you as I have had great results. Just curious what else is worth exploring.

Casey does it really matter how loud your bow is? You cant hit what you shoot at anyway!

I put some bowjax silencers on my and like them. They have been installed for about a year now and haven't had any problems with so far.

You should be more concerned about shooting a vintage bow..... That, and spending a week with Gary...

Best ever is two sets top and bottom or the old Cat Whiskers. But the new string leeches should not come apart or off I've had the same set on my Elite now for 2 seasons.

The original set lastest 10 shots.

Use the Sims string leeches that have the straight arms, not the ones with the 90 degree curves in them. They will last a lot longer, and work great.

I dont shoot a Hoyt but i have the string silentsers that come on the Hoyt bows. They work better and last longer than string leaches. I also just got a STS system that is incredable. Not only is the bow quieter it shoots so much better.

I would try something radically different...so you think about it while hunting Illinois chasing a buck of a life time!! Not like you already don't have on your mind, last years horrible miss on a 170+ class animal.
