I'm not gonna say one is better than the other. Just gonna say I've stuck with Shimano for the last 30 years

          Have both.
In my opinion with what both are putting on the shelves nowadays the Lews have a edge.

That's based on BB series and Curado's

Just don't see any reel being smoother than my Calais.

Shimano puts out one bad curado and everyone starts smoking the Lews crack. Lol

Lews signed up 100k "field staff pros" to push the marketing and it looks like some of it is working.

Not 100% on this "lews crack". They may have signed up field staff but I've used shimano for years(20 or so) and tried a lews this spring. The cheaper model lews has out performed my chronarchs and curados that have all had upgraded bearings and professional cleanings. Time will tell as far as how tough lews reels are but for now I'll take the lews over shimano. Not saying I'm a pro but I spend a ton of time on the water and put my equipment through hell.

Started using Lews baitcaster last year on my annual northern Manitoba pike/walleye fishing trip. 7 straight afternoons of casting for trophy pike with no problems. Used braided line and between 1 oz and two oz lures. Caught a couple 40" pike. Those two definitely tested the drag.

Bought the inshore Lews model that I will put to the test in 4 weeks when I head north.

I have a couple lews I crappie fish with. Can't speak for their casting ability but they fit in the hand nicely. I loved the old school Lews. BB1s and BB1Hs and Bantam Curados though. Those were sweet reels. I still have several old Lews I would use if I could get worm gears for em.

Lews over my Curado any day.

                          13 Fishing Concept over both.

Just picked up a Lew's Team Gold Carbon Spinning Reel.
Already looking into purchasing a second and third reel to replace the CI4's Lew's has hit a home run with another reel, this time it a spinning reel!

Last week Academy had the Lews inshore marked down from 199.00 to 119.00. Needless to say I walked out with 6 of them. I have some old lews that were made by shimano that are 30 years old and still function fine. Lews revolutionized baitcasting reels when they made the first reel that had a disingaging level wind and wasn't round.

Concept. Hands down. And I own a Concept, multiple Chronarchs and Curados, and a Revo Inshore.
