I'm up by 4:30 every morning. 7 days a week. By 8:00 I've done drank my coffee, ate breakfast and ready for a beer. The neighbors called in on me for my air compressor one time at 8:00a.m.. Couple of weeks later he came over and asked if I could fix something for him. Ain't happenin bro!

        Yes, you are inconsiderate...

But that don't make you a bad person, OR have anything to do with mowing your grass.

        Insert one smiley thingy here.

There is nothing wrong with 8 am.

Mowing is my chore. I dont want my chores interfering with time I could spend elsewhere.

I go to work at 6 am so I can get home early and enjoy the day. I mow the lawn right around 8 because it gets done and I still have a nice relaxing day on MY weekend.

As has been stated. There are 100s of lawn services who you would never see starting at 8.

In our hood you'd be the last one starting if you waited until 8
Saturday and Sunday right about 7:30 you'll here the sound of multiple yard tools getting fired up

8AM is plenty late enough to get started.

I used to work 2nd shift and once a week my landlord would mow the yard early in the morning but I didn't ***** because I didn't have to mow it. The first time it happened and he hit the side of the house (metal building/barndo) with a weedeater I did nearly **** my pants.

This is Texas... its 95 degrees by 8am.
He can pound sand or better insulate his house from outside sound.

No you are not being inconsiderate. you cant please everyone. I work shift work and people always wake me up using machinery. No biggy.
Yep, go to church and mow when you get back, i bet you find the answer to your question there . Or go fishing or anything else you find enjoyable to burn a little more daylight without wasting the time.

I would ask the complainer why he is complaining about it now, the next time you see him outside. Something may have changed with their lives that could change your mind about starting at 8, even though that is a reasonable time in my opinion.

8:00 a.m. on Sunday might be a bit early for a cookie cutter type neighborhood, especially if a neighbor complains. As a few others have stated, just meet in the middle and perhaps start at 9:00 next time.

Noise is a sticky issue in small neighborhoods. I'd proceed with caution though. If you show a lack of consideration, then perhaps said neighbor will do the same in return on a 50/50 issue like this.

Oh and weekdays are fair game, but most lawn services don't cut on Sundays, so quoting start times for other days of the week doesn't necessarily apply. Good luck.

I would never even consider asking a neighbor to not start mowing anytime between sun up and 10 pm!! It amazes me how self centered people can be! If you partied too much the night before, you have to pay to play! If you work night shift, thats just part of the deal! Glad I have the neighbors I do! Now if it was loud music, running an outboard (not just firing it off an killing it), gunfire, etc, it might be a different story, but if you mowing your yard bothers them that much, maybe they should invest in some insulation in their walls or some ear plugs! By 8 am sunday morning, most of my neighbors are finishing up their yard and getting ready for church!

I just ordered LED light bars for my zero turn... I'm good now, daylight or dark, but then again, I don't have neighbors anywhere close, but IF I did, I'd be considerate as long as they were... talk about it, n find out why... OK not a problem... wavin' arms askin' me what I thought I was doin' mowin' at 8 o'clock in the morning... next week it's butt-crack of dawn, no muffler, then weed-eat, then blower...

8 am Sunday morning I start mowing my yard, my neighborhood is what I think you would call patio homes small yards driveways in the front.

Usually every Sunday morning this is my routine, I not only mow my mine but at least one of my neighbors plus others if they need it and work on leaves in the street. I just had a neighbor across the street come out and kinda of get on to me about mowing this early. Non of my other neighbors have ever complained but maybe because they all benefit from what I do.

I stopped mowing and will wait till 9 like he asked but was wondering if I am being a jack hole neighbor. He came out fully dressed in slacks and dress shirt so I don't believe I woke him up
In the summer time, mow as early as you can. It's freaking humid and hot now.

Being a good neighbor is about working with each other - there's no right or wrong here.

For me, I wouldn't want to alienate a neighbor over an hour of mowing. In your situation, maybe that isn't as important to you.
