I'm an active duty vet. Don't no one owe me nothing and I don't owe no one nothing. If I get or got a discount fine. But why the hell would a dependent of military or LE get one? What "sacrifice" have they made?

As a veteran, I agree that dependants shouldn't ask for discounts but I think you should reconsider your statement about them not sacrificing anything. Military wife's have some of the toughest jobs ever. Ask your wife next time you leave for a year on deployment if she has to sacrifice anything. Or how about the kids that have to go a year without their mom or dad. Or constantly moving schools or not seeing relatives because they are half way across the world. We need to appreciate all our soldiers and veterans and the family's that support them and make their service possible.
Thanks for your service by the way.

The horror! We'll have to combine this thread with the one about whether teachers are adequately compensated or not.

We (www.BONFIREWINGS.com) have given UNIFORMED military/LEO/Fireman/EMT and U.S. mail carriers that dine inside our establishments a 50% discount on any of our combo meals for 15+ years!!! We also give either 10 or 15% discount to teachers "during lunch hours" with proper I.D.
Why dine in ONLY? Why during lunch hours ONLY? It is shameful to admit the ABUSE that comes with a generous policy by the folks that we believe deserve a positive gesture! My dad was USAF for 22 years and I get it as we moved constantly. In addition, good relationships with the folks that have your "proverbial back" in a neighborhood is GOOD business also. But it is a perk that truly has challenged our business on occasion, thus I could only imagine what that Chick Fil A franchisee is attempting to navigate.

Not to say they don't sacrifice anything just not on the level of the actual troop or LE is what I mean.

Good for them! I didn't want to see them added to the TBH boycott list. [emoji23][emoji23]

                  I love me some CFA!

                    I eat CFA every morning...
There is no discount for military at that cfa...not because they don't offer it.. because it's not needed as anyone dressed in military uniform gets their bfast/lunch paid for by patrons.

I made the distinction of (by bad guys) because I found out that dying "in the line of duty" means you could have had a heart attack in Shipley's parking lot eating a kolache in your squad car and that counts as "in the line of duty".

We need to respect our farmers more.
Aren't most farmers government employees also ???

                        I am a vet...

Dependents asking for discounts just rubs me the wrong way and my wife feels the same way. She never asked for one and feels she didn't earn it. We don't give LE, first responder, or any other wives discounts....why military then? Dependents already get discounts....it's called onbase shopping.

Don't get me started on the military wives demanding a discount....I just about called a First Shirt on that one.

I remember a time when being a vet just got you spit on.

Not getting a discount isn't any big deal but it could be appreciated by military family's struggling to get by.

I've never asked for one and I never will but I was given one at Lowes one time, a couple of years ago, by a very nice young man when he saw my Army veterans cap. That's the first time that I can remember that I was given anything by a civilian simply for serving in the military.
Gotta admit, I almost got choked up. I was very appreciative, not for the discount but for the gesture.

Until our veterans make the same money as an *** clown who pretends to be someone in an effort to entertain the public (court jester)... I think military discounts should be mandatory.

Forget mandatory discounts. Just lower taxes for active military, first responders, and teachers. Not just on deployments for military. Maybe even no sales tax for these folks! We can give other people sales tax exemptions to abuse, why not our elite.
Cut income and property tax in half or all together for.
That will be showing appreciation and make up for the low salaries we earn in these jobs.
