Yep. I got to hand it to Strong, he is pulling some 4 and 5 stars. It could be fascinating to see how this season pans out. Texas with a Freshman at QB, A&M with a new QB although one with big game experience, coaches that will get canned of they don't win 7 plus games, Htown takeover with Herman at UH, Baylor being a possible mess, new QB at TCU, still no defense at Tech but Kingsbury don't care, LSU with questions on offense outside of #7, etc.

My money is on OU to have the best season in this general area. We shall see soon enough I guess.

The marque games will still get the biggest draw. Bama vs LSU, TX vs OU.
The Aggies to the SEC really brought in some Houston SEC viewership that wasn't as strong as before.

I do agree with McCombs, if you expand, UH would really make for some good close rivals and would be good for the Big 12 having constant Big 12 schools playing in Houston. There is no reason UH couldn't be every bit as successful as Baylor or TCU in the Big 12.

Nothing against Houston, but adding another instate institution does nothing for the conference. They don't bring the Houston market with them. the only way the Big 12 becomes attractive enough to bank on a conference network is by adding programs outside of the state with huge upside. There aren't any at this moment. Houston may very well end up a part of the Big 12 down the road, but I doubt Texas or OU are a part of that conference platform.

"It would appear to me that the Big 12 should be out courting them to get them to want to come into the Big 12," McCombs said. "I can’t imagine the reason they wouldn’t want them in.

"This is a huge opportunity for the Big 12. This shouldn’t even be a question, them coming in. The question should be how fast can we get them?"
