    My guess was Northern Pike, I will have to google Pickerel. I've only got maybe three perch out of here. Everything else has been stocked channel cats.


    No chance of flooding in. Birds must have carried it. Surely this is not common for an East Texas pond? I'm in Hardin County.

          I think it's a pickerel and there are a handful of east Texas lakes that have them. Probably came in on a bird. Cool catch

                              We used to catch lots of them when I was a kid in the 50's and 60's. We had a hunting camp in the Big Thicket near Pine Ridge just north of Sour Lake.

                              We fished in Black Creek and its tributaries. They were common back then.
