    Where would you go?

I was having a conversation with a gentleman earlier about Texas deer hunting and it came about where he thought was best places to hunt. I'm not referring to specific property's just regions of the state. If you could hunt any area/county where would it be? In regards to both numbers of whitetails and chance at some nice bucks. He said his opinion was there are 3 great areas in Texas. 1) south- being everything south of San Antonio and west of 37, 2) north- everything in the triangle formed between witchita falls, Lubbock, and amrallio and 3) West- everything within 100 miles of San Angelo. Your vote doesn't have to be one of these areas just what he classified as area to have chance at big bucks

West....way prettier area to hunt and I'm not a big buck guy. South for giant deer, but ugly flat brush land

Webb county with water on the property. No question for me.

I love the area around Archer, Throckmorton, Shackelford, Baylor counties. If I ever win the lottery, I will be looking for 5,000 acres in that area. Big bodied deer, big horns, and I love the winter time up there. Plenty of mesquites, wheat fields, flat land but has some terrain change, dove and quail, turkey....I just really like that area.

I am by no means an expert but my opinion is this:Any of these areas is a winner as long as you have the following, ample food, water and neighbors committed to letting them grow. After that its all about scenery.

I would go from Grayson County west all along the Red River and up into the Panhandle.
