****Wireless Trailcams**** Anyone else being charged for data usage

Over the last few days I started getting text messages from ATT saying I have gone over my data limit on both of my cameras. I have had both the cameras running for over two years year round with no issues before. I have unlimited text messages and now they are trying to tell me that pics use data and that is why I am being charged. ATT is trying to find another way to put the screws to you. Is anyone else dealing with this issue?

I set up my camera with no data plan. Unlimited text only.

You might be receiving "iMessage" instead of text. iMessages use data.

I have the same plan set up. I am going to have my wife check all the settings this evening since I am offshore right now.

I did talk to Covert and they said the 2013/2014 models can send text messages without data but the 2015 models will require data to work.

I am running a 2014 covert and n older scout guard so I am guessing I may have my settings set wrong somehow.

Been running both these cameras for over 2 years with no issues until just now.

Verizon Spartan gocam and no issues

Verizon won't work in my area where my cameras are. So that's not an option. And I have never had a problem in over two years. This is something new.

Covert has a prepaid plan....$8 a month for pretty much unlimited!

It is prepaid so once its out that is it, cant be charged anything else

4-5 years from now all cameras will be wirless IMO....they are a game changer

I only pay $12 for unlimited as it is and it should never run out. Never been charged before, why now? I am now thinking I have changed a setting by accident.

I would not be happy! It shouldn't just change all of the sudden on a pre existing plan. Now with a new 2015 camera if they switch how they do it, then maybe

believe me I am not happy. I spent 2 hours yesterday and 2 hours today on the phone with ATT. Their answer is that pictures via text message use data and that is why. Not a good answer for me. The covert guy did tell me to check my settings though so that will be checked tonight on both cameras.

They did offer me unlimited data for $10 a month to be added to each line.

I get mine via text message. Up until the new year I have never incurred any extra charges. The Chris are a new thing.
