48 and drizzly today, but another 6 miles on the feet and in the books.

And, as it seems every ruck is an adventure unto itself, I take it in this day and age that nine people with heavy rucksacks on their backs and carrying one large American flag near school zones in the wee hours of the morning equates to a group of people open carrying AR-15's.

Or at least that's how the cop who stopped us with full on lights flashing made it sound like.

As a way to supplement my Bataan training I've also joined up with a challenge to ruck 1,000 miles in 2016.

So, I went out on a short three miler this evening after work and discovered that there's a beer stop at the halfway point along the route.

      You know, for motivation.

Good on you for doing this. I had a family member survive the march and I would like to participate this year in his honor. Do many civilians enter or is this primarily for military folks?

I'd say from my experience last year there are more civilians than active duty military.

You can check out the event HERE.

Hope to see you out there!

Back in the early 90's (I was a teenager) when we lived on Holloman I used to volunteer for this. Water stations etc. Good for you for carrying it on. I still have my t-shirt from it.

The volunteers are what make this event. In all the events I've ever done, this one is far and away the best supported one. All the volunteers want to be there and really motivate those of us on the course.

Plus, the home made cookies and Gummy Bears help too.

                    Oh no, not at all.

Used to be a member of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children.

The GBF patch is from a GORUCK event I did that benefitted the foundation.

Majority of the GORUCK cadre are former/active SF.

Cool beans. I know a couple of the cadre. Me and one of them were in 3rd GRP together.

I've met two that are both here in Texas.

One owns a CF gym in Dallas and is still active in the Groups as a reservist.

Other owns "Old Glory Armory" up around College Station.

Really great and down to Earth guys.

That is, once they quit making me carry heavy things and doing rocking chairs in the water.

5.22 miles along a dark and wee bit airish mountain biking single track this morning.
