Coast as been okay, but nothing impressive. The birds are not on the northern shorelines like they were last year, so we are trying to figure out how to get into the back lakes this year with the new boat. She can run skinny, we just don't know where the super skinny parts are and in the dark it is REALLY hard to tell.

Ya the past two days have been great. The problem is the lack of snow and ice in Missouri and states northern as well as the predicted 60-70 degree days for the next 10+ days.
I've hunted Black River in the past. We hunt the L'anguille River mostly as well as some rice fields between Wynne and Augusta. Used to have access to a place near Carlisle but not anymore unfortunately.

Next day we go to a friends farm not 4 miles from those woods as the crow flies. MIGHT have worked 50 gadwalls all morning and killed 11. Weak.

Clearly we've gotten some birds, but not like years past. Not surprised after reading these two articles.

Bottom line is if you're not seeing birds where you typically hunt, you have to go somewhere else in the state or bust out the golf clubs.

Ended up hunting a pit at BILs with him and two of his friends. Killed 24 ducks and 6 specs. Mostly gadwall and a few mallards. Not a bad hunt, but still not great for this time of year.
We went to look at the rest area afterwards and there were a couple good rafts out there, but very few mallards.
