Anyone else having trouble with the ducks this year?

Just wrapped up a week in and around Cedar Creek lake. 3 one bird days and one 4 bird day, between 3-4 of us each day. One day we had plenty of opportunities. But ive been hunting HARD this year, and scouting, and when I find birds, it seems things change in a matter of a day or two. I mostly hunt lakes within 1 hr of DFW.

LOTS of water. It has them scattered all over the place

My excuses are too much water and too daggum warm.

Ive only had one excellent hunt thus far in big duck season. Teal season was off the charts, opening day of big duck we laid the smackdown on greaters. Since then, LOTS of 1 to 3 bird days.

Gonna do a good bit more of scounting and hit it as hard as I can the remainder of the season. Trying to hunt 3-4 days each week. Really looking forward to the TBH W.O.R.P hunt down on the coast at the end of January.

If any of you DFW guys want to hunt together shoot me a PM, most of my spots are all within 1-2 hours of DFW. Got a few good spots that I know will have birds, just have not had time to go out there and see where the X is

Every year I say it can't get worse... And every year I'm wrong. I have tons of prime land, with zero birds. Few boot lips here and there but not even a hunt able number. Went to Stuttgart after thanksgiving, and while they had waaaay more birds than us, still a 1/1000 of normal numbers. They were not even in the sky

Going in the morning, I think it should start picking up. At least it will be 30 degrees cooler than it was for me a week ago on last hunt

We have had a really great year against all odds. Only 3 bad hunts. 1 bird hunt, a 3, and a 4 birder.

This has been the best year I have had as far has consecutive limits sence 2007. Lots of flooded oak flats and tons of acorns. Same thing that's making it the worst deer season sence 2007.

We've had some decent hunts. It's better than last year but not great. I think it's just too much water and the warm temps.

It's been junky up here. First really good hunt was a couple days ago. Killed 13 limits of mallards in the woods FINALLY. Now they're mostly gone again. Going up to Pocahontas this weekend to the inlaws. BIL has been doing decent up there so we're gonna go a time or two.

You can shoot gadwalls and teals and other junk, but there's not many birds down according to AGFC aerial survey the other day. I think it said like 60% of normal and only like 1/2 ducks. Water is high, temps are high. No ducks, but really no surprise! Tooooooo warm.

I thought the 2nd split would be better, but still not seeing anything.

I'm going with it just isn't cold up north. Saw a report on the news the other night of how warm it is in Minnesota. They had a side by side picture of a lake that is typically froze over and folks ice fish it. This year they are still water skiing.
