I'd love for Strong's first two years to have been with the roster Sumlin started with. This would be a whole different conversation.

Yes it would. Mostly because it would be CS with different players...but not because the result would be any different.
To say anything to the contrary would be pure speculation smeared with a layer of hope and desperation.

Everyone was on board with the talent he had and his coaching abilities at the beginning. You even praising his coaching and mentoring styles while he sliced, cut, and booted the talent he had.
Now you seem to be playing the "if only he had".. "man things would be so different if..."..game while dismissing the common denominator for UT's current performance woes.
At what point does he and his coaching style and abilities take responsibility for the woes?

I think the players, coaches and recruits care.

If the fan base is boom or bust on a NC, theres only 1 fan base satisfied and everyone else is a loser.

They're good for extra practice time and the kids love the swag.

As for bowls in general, there are far too many and they're now talking about a handful of 5-7 teams playing in bowls this year. Ridiculous

I'm more interested in seeing the playoff expanded to 8 teams and a significant bowl structure for the Top 25. As a CFB fan...

The problem around here is you can't talk CFB as a fan in general without being labeled by your affiliation to a team or what not.

Yeah we needed a QB and a OL so bad. I think this team would be leaps and bounds better if he had those two positions of need taken care of.

I honestly think if Texas was better at QB and OLine it would be a whole different situation. I personally think it's a personal issue instead of a coaching issue with those two positions when it comes to the last two years.

If you go back and read my post about Texas I have talked about bad QB / OLine play as the main reason for Texas struggles. The Big 12 is an offensive league and when you struggle at the two most important positions it's going to be tough no matter who the coach is.

For the record is not trying to minimize anything A&M and Sumlin did their first two years. I'm just making a point of Texas had better talent at those two particular positions I think the narrative for Strong would be different.

And yet one team finishes in the middle of the pack in their conference once again and we hear how awesome they are. Even with Texas sucking hind tit they finish higher in the recruiting rankings.

The two teams are in different places for sure. KS is in year 4 or 5? And CS in year 3 (really 2nd full year) and both teams come up short of expectations. Most of us figured the Horns would have another rough season but they have been much worse than I would have thought. Ags had an schedule that set up **** near perfect for them this year and still dont get it done. Both teams have a TON of work to do before either become relevant. And yes I still wished they played every year on Thanksgiving!
