Guys i appreciate the input, I have been in sales my entire adult life and I know that looks and personality have a lot to do with it
Unless you're selling to an engineer , at least myself and the ones I work with are immune to all forms of "persuasion"...or should I say we're just oblivious to it? If your product is better than my current vendor's (and the price is right), I'll buy it. If it's the same but cheaper, I'll buy it. That's it.
She's got the look and Drs like good looking women just like other men. My sister is in sales and she knocks it out of the park. Get's face to face meetings that a man never could. Tell your wife to go for it. The worst thing possible is she quit a job she hated and learns a few things. Can't clear a hurdle if you don't jump.
my personal take on hiring sales people is if they worry too much about a base salary, and not about the commission, then they're not really the right sales person for me.

This was always my attitude as well. I wasnt ever going to pay them a base that made them comfortable. I wanted my sales people out there hustling trying to make sure they covered their personal expenses every month.

No sales rep who sells less than $75k worth of equipment will keep their job for more than 1 year. Your wife is smart to move. 8% is a lot in sales field, and there are a lot who have offer 3% with similar wages.
My wife makes more than me hourly, but isn't allowed the hours I am. She wants US to make more but won't try to leave where she is. I am 2 yrs in where she is about 13 yrs in. I know the feeling, as she wants certain things for us , but I work 50-60 hrs / week. I try to let her know, I know she can do much better, but she blames me..... Oh well...
I've been in sales for many years. How much she can make will depend a lot on which accounts or what territory she gets. That's the discussion I would have with the prospective employer. If she will get some accounts that have been buying a decent amount plus some to try to develop, it should be OK. If it's all development accounts, watch out.
Dental implants...Territory is Grapevine, Southlake, Colleyvile and mid cities and we live in Grapevine and she gets a gas card w/expense account. So driving is not going to be an issue and she offices out of the house.
If its the company I'm thinking of she has the opportunity to do pretty well. I knew some ladies that sold that and made around $100k on average. Got picked up by a company that does surgical robots and make double that now.
