    Agreed

What do her counterparts sell per year? Seems like a much better opportunity.
That's what I told her. She actually makes closer to 48k now, so it would really only be around 5k difference because she doesn't get a car or cell on her job now. The difference is really 5k a year. She would only have to sell $75,000.00 to close the gap!

If she is not getting that now, the new offer is only $5840 below what she is currently making. She would only need to sell $75K at 8% commission to be whole at $50K. If you don't take in account the stipend for car and cell phone she would only need to see $175K which I assume is very little in the medical field.

        I would think the $36K / 8% Commission / $680 month expenses is a much better job (finically) than a flat $50K.

As has been pointed out a few times now. Does her current $50k job cover the car and cell phone as well ?

Already answered. I dont see why she would be disappointed if broken down. Sales position with only that margin to overcome seems very doable when considering the possible upside.

What kind of medical devices ?

Main thing I would suggest, lay it out for her and tell her you support her whichever way she decides to go. You don't want her to feel like you are forcing her to take the job if she doesn't want it.

Curious what type of devices is she selling?

Sounds like it adds up to what she's making now?

                $36K/yr
                $12K/yr for a car
                $960/yr cell service
                8% commission

Doesn't sound like a step back to me.

I don't see how you could ever go wrong with supporting and encouraging your wife. Sometimes, when finances are involved people can feel like they are being pushed rather than supported. Keep that in mind, pray on it, and all will be fine.

It is her dream job and she will be able to kill it, if you were a doctor would you buy from her?

I would have to agree with the others. Seems like a no brainer. Keep encouraging her. It will probably end up working out.

What kind of medical devices? What are the requirements for the type of car she must drive. What is her selling area? If she has a huge area and she is driving a lot then it is going to eat into the $600 a month for the car allowance.

I am in sales and have been for over 15 years. I cover a large area and I fill up at least 3 times a week sometimes more. At average of $50 per fill up I drive a truck so that is $150 a week I spend on gas. In a 4 week month I have spent that $600 just for gas. Like I said a lot of factors to consider.

If salary is important to her it would require approx 180,000 in sales to equal her current. Everything above that is gravy.

I am not a doctor but sometimes play one on TV and I would buy from her. I don't think she'll have any issues being a success in that sales position, Good looking lady.

Beautiful wife, you out kicked your coverage like most of us TBHers!

On a serious note, my wife moved into a sales position 4 years ago. It's a different industry, but same scenario...base, commission, company truck, cell phone, laptop, etc. it took her some time, but she has been very successful. My wife is gorgeous...petite, blonde and a great personality to match. Point being, it may take her some time, but I'm betting she can be very successful!

Dental implants...Territory is Grapevine, Southlake, Colleyvile and mid cities and we live in Grapevine and she gets a gas card w/expense account. So driving is not going to be an issue and she offices out of the house.
