Several of us were on a day lease and one of the guys put a lock on to a tree that had a knot which was hollow a little higher than his left shoulder. Shortly after morning he eased his head to the left and caught something in his peripheral vision, turned his head on around and was practically kissing a very large snake coming out of that hole. He screamed which I heard roughly 3/4 of a mile away and jumped. His tree harness caught him but when the snake continued out of the hole and down onto the platform, he drew out his knife and cut the strap. He only fell about 11 feet and thankfully wasn't hurt.

I had a rat snake crawl out of a knot hole behind my head in a ladder stand once. Last time I ever hunted that tree again!

I think he's trying to show you how to climb a tree the fastest way, he's harmless. Good luck on the hunt, keep us posted.
