The only reason I don't shoot mechanicals is because of penetration. I have plenty of confidence in them opening up and they are all devastating. If they really failed to open as often as people claim, they would not be in business. A lot of the time mechanicals do pass trough, but a lot of times they don't. Fixed blades don't always make a pass through either. But I'll bet anything a fixed blade will out penetrate any mechanical when released shot for shot. I have more confidence in getting a pass through with a fixed blade, and I'd rather have 2 nice holes spilling blood than 1 big hole with an arrow stuck in it.

Im fairly new to bowhunting but killed 3 last year with..........you guessed it.....Rage mechanicals. My daughter killed a buck with a Rage as well. I bought some Montec G5 fixed for a hog hunt but after getting "busted" 2 sits in a row from swirling wind switched to the 22-250 and killed a lot of animals from the tower stand so I don't know how they work. I have Rage mechanicals, the G5's and some Bloodrunners in my case but come this weekend I'll be using the Rage. Its the ole 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other IMO. Shoot what you are confident with and it will all work out.
