I took a really nice Bull Elk 5 days ago with the always go to Rage Hypodermic 100 Grain. Big ole boy went 20 yards after the shot and fell over. Many whitetails have fallen to this broadhead. I have also had great success with them on pigs. Previous I have used the regular rage 100 grain, Vortex, slick tricks, muzzy and started on satellite. It is all about shot placement. Remember the early bowhunters used a sharpened piece of rock and still got it done..

Shot the biggest buck of my life last year with a fixed.

First year (last) to shoot fixed so that is what I am shooting this year. Previously shot mechanical.

      Muzzy Trocar.

Fixed have worked for me for the last 55 years. No reason to change something that is fool proof.

Shoot big mechanicals HUGE blood trails don't have to bother with tweaking this and tweaking that to get them to fly straight!!!

Just a thought, I shot the reliable thunderheads my first few seasons, had GREAT results, tried the Spitfires on a ram and had a less then desirable situation, cleaned it up with the thunderhead as well. Just for a different feel I am shooting Slick Tricks Viper Trick this season. They fly perfect out at 60 yards. No I don't intend on shooting at deer at this range but it sure if fun to see that broadhead fly. As said before, It's all in your tuning. If your bow is tuned correctly, arrow, bow and all, then most any head will fly right.

I have always shot fixed. I do not shoot enough weight for mechanicals, but even if I did, I would stick to fixed. I like the KISS method. I don't have to worry about BH failure. There are enough things that can go wrong from the time I think about releasing an arrow until the THWACK.

I shot Thunderheads for over 20 years and they were always reliable. When I started shoot trad, I started shooting Magnus Buzzcut, Magnus Stingers and German Kinetics. Love the cut on contact BHs!!

I shoot fixed only because of the "KISS" principle. Keep It Simple Stupid. Add in Murphy's law -- if it can go wrong it will, and at the worst possible time with the worst possible outcome.

With mechanicals several things can happen, and all but one are bad. Blades don't open--bad. Only one blade opens--bad. Only 2 blades open (2 or 4 bladed head)--bad. All blades open as designed--good.

There are enough variables in bowhunting without a self-inflicted "wound"

The main thing is shoot what you have confidence in.

This is exactly my thought process as well
