That would be correct if you're an Indian in Oklahoma.... But it sure is some good tax free cash for them

I wish TX would open up cardrooms like CA has, no slots, craps, or other pure chance games. Just poker variants and blackjack.

Electronic slots in gas stations and bars: Ok (whether it's actually legal or not)

          Casinos: Nope

What's the reason? Bible thumpers? Lousiana lobbying? Oklahoma lobbying? Vegas lobbying? All of the above?

Seems like more jobs, keeping money in-state, tons of tax money to state, and bringing in tourism is a win for TX??
Baptist Church would be my guess.

Not only is it illegal to bet on chicken fights, it is illegal to just watch one or to possess paraphernalia like spurs or treadmills.

So I shouldn't roll dice with my buddies this weekend?

That is no problem and you can toss 'em for $1,000 a shot. It just has to be in a private place (living room, kitchen, anywhere not open to the public) and the "house" cannot play the bank or take a cut.

Again, pitching pennies on the sidewalk is illegal and rolling $1,000 a shot in your living room is legal.

I don't doubt this one bit.

Poker should be legal. It's a game of skill.

Texas reminds me of the Saudis they can't gamble or drink in their country but when they leave it they can and do as they please. I guess GOD cannot see them when they leave the country.

Sure gambling can cause problems. Alcohol causes problems but it is sold. And as far as alcohol goes it should either be legal or not. Dry counties should be illegal. It is also B/S that there are times you can not purchase it.

Government regulated gambling will be about as "clean" as anything else that the government gets it's hand into. Right now the politicans are the only ones profiting from keeping gambling out of Texas.

I don't go out of state to gamble because the few times that I did it is just not worth the trip for what little money I'm willing to lose.

If I could drive down to Galveston say, have a nice meal, walk down the sea wall and go drop $100.00 at a casino and come home I'd do that. But driving from Houston to Lousiana, not anymore.
