So why no gambling in TX still?

    Lottery: Ok

    Online Sports Betting: Ok

    Horse/Dog Racing: Ok

Poker games at bars and other places: Ok

Electronic slots in gas stations and bars: Ok (whether it's actually legal or not)

    Casinos: Nope

What's the reason? Bible thumpers? Lousiana lobbying? Oklahoma lobbying? Vegas lobbying? All of the above?

Seems like more jobs, keeping money in-state, tons of tax money to state, and bringing in tourism is a win for TX??

I have to agree I used to play online poker a lot years ago and they stopped it cuz I had a U.S. account. I think this Fantasy Football is as close as it gets. I'm ready for a Corpus Christi Casino NOW!

I believe the horse and dog racing is over with now. I read that Sam Houston racepark and Gulf Greyhound are closing.

        Really?

Can you post the article. I have not read that.

        Thanks

I'm not a gambler but i've always thought it was due to Louisiana lobbying. They stand to be the biggest loser in that scenario.

Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie is having trouble too. They said they are closed for the foreseeable future. Really sucks because we love that place.

You might want to double check that closing. Website still indicates they are open.

Gambling in Texas is illegal. That's the answer.

What about Lucky Eagle in Eagle Pass?

Lonestar Park and the other tracks opened back up. The issue was the state was considering pulling the funding for the committee that oversees gambling in TX. The state agreed to continue funding for another few months while they try to come up with a solution.

I can tell you that I've heard Tillman Fertita himself say that gambling will not be legal in Texas ever. He was a huge supporter of it and was lobbying Texas to pass it. Now he is confident it won't pass and that's why he opened up the golden nugget in lake Charles.

Its a band aid on a gunshot wound fix.

The easiest solution that could save them is if the state allowed them to put in slot machines.

Lots of people will lose their jobs soon because politicians don't really care about anybody but themselves.

A very small plug in the dam as I believe they only extended it for 3 months. I see no problem with allowing the horses to keep running as I enjoy going to the races and have friends who own numerous horses at tracks around the state.

Hopefully they can come up with a solution.

Horse/Dog Racing: Ok - Not many and I bet you couldn't open one.

Illegal because gambling causes all sorts of problems. Name a big gambling city that doesn't have huge issues.
