I can miss em with high brass 3" too. I know, I've seen me do it.

Lol.. True. Missing them is one thing. But It don't take much to kill a dove if you aim where you supposed too. Lol. Its perty tricky.

Used to shoot 12 gauge Remington Heavy Dove 7.5 shot. It gave me enough heavier shot to take down white wings at longer ranges. I was crippling too many with #8 shot. I recently decided to change to the faster standard Rio 7.5 one ounce loads. They shoot a little faster than the Remington's. I think for me a faster load with less pellets is just as effective, and the rounds are cheaper.

not true....the heavier load is typically flying slower.

              pay attention to the velocity.

my 20 gauge throwing 7/8'ths ounce of no. 7 1/2 at 1300 fps is hitting harder than a 1 1/8 ounce 12 gauge load at 1250 fps.

I'm really picky when it comes to my shotgun shells. I typically use a fast load, I'm currently using Rio/Monarch loads at 1300 fps for a dove load. a "field load" is going to be flying at 1150-1200 fps.

I never used high brass loads for dove, imo its a waste of money. You can kill dove at ridiculous ranges with a good field load, AA's for instance are some of the best you can get for dove

                  1 oz in 20 ga
                  1.125 oz in 12 ga
Both through improved cylinder with a possible switch to modified if they aren't decoying well.
