Eyes and bunghole are usually signs of crows. Buzzards are normally gone by now but probably were still around in October.

Any meat left? Already in jerky form.
    That's a big *** crow with a redhead..

Buzzard are still here which is strange. We saw about 10 on a goat 2 miles from the front gate this past weekend. Deer we have found with buzzards on them have the eyes gone so I'm going to assume it was not crows.

Most of the meat was gone via maggots. Everything was a gray creamy mess inside. I don't gag but I gagged twice when I got a whiff of it when we tried to drag it off. It was right up there with the worst smell I have ever come across and I've removed several goats and deer from feedpens through the years.

                            Nice shot hero!

Surprised his hocks were not more stained this time of year.

Did you operate on the wad under his jaw? Looks like he has a chaw of tobacco..

Well, I finally caught the crazy "double drop" deer that we had on camera once in early August and then once again about three weeks ago.

This lease in Eden no one can bow hunt near feeders past opener of general season, so I found a trail that I thought was somewhere in this bucks travel pattern based on where he showed up at and what other big deer in the area were doing. There was a pretty good sized rub, so I set a pop up about 15 yds away tucked into a mesquite tree and cactus patch this past Tuesday. Threw out corn and a camera and called it good.

Came into camp yesterday at 1, threw more corn out and pulled the card. Got back to camp and saw that he had been there Thursday morning around 9 am following a doe. Got into the blind in 4 layers of clothes (lol) and to my surprise at 7:05 he walked in with a young forkhorn. For 10 minutes he was standing there eating corn but facing me head on with no shot. Finally he turned and gave me a slightly quartering away shot to my left. Best shot I've ever put on a deer, entrance right behind the leg and through the top of the offside shoulder, basically breaking his offside let. Waited an hour to get out, found the arrow and found him laying near a fence 40 yds away!!
