This week, I've seen a lot of young bucks and a fair number of does. Not really seeing the big boys during day light. Going out this afternoon to brave the heat.

Well it's official.........looks like we were off 4/8" on campscore to official gross score.

Some dang nice bucks killed so far. Congrats.

So when will we start seeing more daytime cruising by mature bucks way out west-Big Lake area in particular? So far movement is pretty minimal outside of normal feeder traffic and most of that is young bucks. I've been told the rut is first week of December so I would think movement would start picking up here pretty soon?

When is the peak of your rut? Is there a difference in rut dates, from say Christoval/Eldorado to Big Lake? I know we hunted around Junction for a while and our rut was always about Thanksgiving.

It will be the same as what you had in Junction for the most part.

Changes in latitude generally change the rut timing. Length of daylight.

Ours is Thanksgiving day! Lots of mature deer cruising around +- a few days around Thanksgiving! This is 10 miles east of Mertzon.
