What a shame for the family of the deceased. But a victory for those who wish to stay safe in their home.

Sad thing for sure. My son is the same age and knew this boy. He apparently loved to fish. I cant help but wonder what would make him do such a stupid thing. The homeowner had every right to shoot him and I would have done the same thing.

I did some stupid stuff as a kid that very well could have got me killed, but I never would have broken into someone's home! Could have just been someone being stupid and trying to steal beer, cigarrets, etc, heck it could have been nothing more than a dare from a friend, but just like most have stated, if I would have been in the home owners place, the results would have been the same and I would expect no less if i would have been in the kids place!

May have been, we don't know. Good kid or not, he made a stupid mistake and paid for it with his life. Good kids sometimes do stupid things. No one has contested him getting shot or argued that the home owner was in the wrong because he wasnt. I guess you never did anything stupid as a kid that could have got you killed? I know I did my fair share and I know of very few, if any, that havent done something stupid and dangerous.

When that "kid" decided he needed to wear a mask to cover his face for a burglary, he knew exactly what he was doing and that it was illegal. Why else would you cover you face? You know you are doing wrong & want to hide who you are from the police.

Why? Well you see the grandfathers response denying his grandson any responsibility in getting himself killed. That's who is raising kids these days. People who think there is no personal accountability in their own actions. Everything is always someone else's fault.

Edited to add: there is always something in my house worth killing for..... It's my daughter & I'll be ****ed if I risk her being hurt or killed by an intruder to preserve the intruders life. I don't/wont know what an intruder is there for. He may as well be there to rape and kill us all or he may be for there for tv. Not going to ask him first.

                  Agreed!

If he was shot in the kitchen per the home owners statement, it should be very easy for the police to prove. If he was shot in the street as the grandfather thinks, that should be very easy to prove also.

It's sad the kid died, but my house is protected by the good Lord and a gun. If you show up there unwelcomed you will meet them both.

"We don't even think Cameron was in the house in there," says Craigen. "We come to find out there was two other kids with them and they had masks on. We're thinking Cameron was out standing by the road watching out for them."

Yeah, because the police don't collect evidence in these types of cases.

My thoughts exactly. What home owner would be dumb enough to claim he shot the perp in his kitchen when he actually shot him outside? Of course, that's going off what the media reported and we all know how reliable that can be! My question is why they reported shots were fired and not the home owner shot the guy. Was the burglar armed? We really won't know what exactly happened till the investigation is complete and even then we may never know exactly what went down.

Oh I don't doubt it happens. I know people who still think you can drag somebody back in the house and get away with it. Or shoot somebody for trespassing and get away with it.

I just don't think that is the case here since nobody is in cuffs.
