I bet more people get hurt by deer attacks or hog attacks versus sharks but people still go into the woods without being scared.

And in the surf you should be 100x more worried about stingrays.

I've been hit by a stingray as well, wading in the surf at the north jetty out of port o Connor. I went to " jump with a wave" and came down right on top of him. And yes I worry about stingrays much more often than sharks. There have been times when the sharks have become too
many, or too "aggressive". When I start missing whole trout off of my stringer, its time to get out. Or when the sharks begin chasing or hitting my top water every cast, its time to get out.

Being to this area several times I have seen people swimming right next to the fishing piers. The area has been dry recently to so less fresh water mixing in near shore. Seems like the perfect storm to me (but I am no expert).

I am amazed at how many people are surprised that Texas beaches have sharks in them. It the Gulf of Mexico people. They belong there!
