    Shark Attacks

I have a theory on the shark attacks on the east coast. I think it is possible that all the of rain that we have had increased the fresh water in the gulf and the sharks are moving out on the gulf stream up the coast. What do ya'll think ?

I think sometimes sharks just bite a lot of people. we routinely see them up to 8' wading in the surf this time of year. this year with the exceptional rains nothing has changed, they are still cruising. besides, all this rain we have been having doesn't even begin to put a dent in the coastal inshore salinity.

My .02 is that some currents have the water temp, baitfish, they're food in much closer to shore and people are getting in they're way. That's their domain not ours. NEVER GET OUT OF THE BOAT!

I don't like the idea of getting bit, so I stay away.

              Wait a minute..........

Is it fresh water in the gulf, or baitfish in S. Carolina????

              Can't have it both ways.

More people in the water = more of a chance of getting bit by a shark.

Pretty crazy of all the incidents happening around the Carolinas...never know, but wouldn't be surprised the same shark would attack a 2nd once it considers human jerky a new food source??

I wonder if some nut case is chumming the water off the beach.

Also sharks have been aggressively protected in our coastal waters for the last 15yrs, their numbers have skyrocketed in these waters.

They're just looking for food and taste a human then swim off. If they wanted to eat a person the person wouldn't stand a chance. Just be glad we don't taste good to them.

Agree with this too, it's like mountain lions in California where I grew up. We would never see or hear them before they were protected, about 2 years after they became protected people's kids are getting snatched on hikes, seeing them in neighborhoods on a regular basis. Protect the Sharks there's going to be more of them, combine that with more people in the water and you have people getting bit, combine all that with the right water temps and currents holding food close to the beach and some people are gonna get bit, not rocket science.
