Unique Things to do in Houston

Odd question I know, because I live here. Deal is, my 10 year wedding anniversary is next month. We thought about going somewhere, but disposable income is tight and we both feel if we can't go where we want, how we want it isn't worth it. I am trying to find something unique to do in or around Houston that won't break the bank. Neither of us has any desire to spend $200 on dinner, so getting dressed up and going to a fancy place is out. I was thinking Kemah, but what is there to do besides eat? Open to any suggestions, we like outdoor things but know it is hot in July. Sure was in a suit on my wedding day lol.

    kemahs ok.. shops and stuff..
you could hit galveston...more shops..beach.. etc..
really depends on what she likes to do.. you dont matter...because your just trying to make her happy on that day...
theres always fishing, taking a drive out of houston , eating at little greasy spoons in small towns, shopping the little shops, etc
    Zoo.. maybe

Why not go to the deer lease, make sure nobody else will be there, and hangout for a weekend? That's our favorite thing to do even though we never get to go.

Kemah is ok, not anywhere near the top of my list to go back to though. If you do go, Monkey Bar is a great place to hang out.

Galveston would be more up on my list of things to do around here because of the beach and trout are in the surf pretty good right now.

San Luis Resort for one evening. Next day spend morning on the beach getting ya'lls feet wet and finish up on the strand

Road trips in the country can be fun, eating at country cafes. Check out the Day Tripper website, its a show on PBS that outlines cheap day trips with loads of things to do for cheap. Lots of places in the Houston area and many within an hour. These will be real good if you like the outdoors. Me and the wife like to hit these Concert Hall and dinner places that have set up recently, there are two Dosey Does in the Woodlands, Main Street Crossing in Tomball and if you are up for a drive there is the RCC in Stafford.

Make a reservation at Rudy Lechners on Gessner/Westheimer on a Friday night after 6. Get a table near the "stage". Pre-Order Rudy's dessert a couple days in advance (he makes it at your table). Great food, great entertainment and great atmosphere.

We usually do the high end dinner thing...but we like to eat and don't mind spending my $ on it. If you want to do something for just 1 night you can priceline a room in downtown Houston and go somewhere like Petes Piano Bar for the evening. We often stay in 4* hotels in downtown for less than $100, but I'm a priceline junky. You could also do just one night in Galveston. Walk the seawall or strand and just kick back and relax.

Really need to do that right before dinner. Could save a lil money.

Go to that go kart place close to ellington and race carts, or dave and busters and a 3d movie. You live in the area, going to Kemah is for tourists. There is also several museums that are cool.
