When I was doing my research, I didn't consider a full size ranger because of the shear size of it. I don't have room for it where I have to keep my utv. I did consider the smaller size one and I drove several models. I settled on the Honda Pioneer-700-4 and I sure like it. It's got a real automatic transmission, is strong and a VERY well made and functional drive train and selector 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel lock. It is still new, so I can't vouch for it's "toughness" or long maintenance free life. Most of my buddies run Rangers and I certainly can't knock them, but I sure like this Honda and I have been a Honda fan for many years. I've owned all kinds of Honda products and every single one of those products have been very dependable and performed their jobs admirably. Time will tell if I made the right decision.

While in Cabo last summer we rented 2 razors to run part of the Baja trail. They were part of an inventory that ran **** near everyday. This 2 machines were 4 seater 900s. The one I drove all day had over 18,000 kilometers on it. The other had something over 16K. I would not have drove my ranger the way I did that razor. But then again I had to do so to keep up with the guide on a quadLast edited by Quackerbox; 05-28-2015, 08:32 PM.

The problems that I have had to deal with is what I will call vapor locking (run good but shut it off and try to start it back up and it won't- let it sit a while and it will) and overheating. I have had it in twice for overheating and right now it seems that every time I go thru water and splash some up on the engine I get overheating problems- temperature jumping way up and dying even though I know it isn't hot. If I knew how to get ahold of someone in the Polaris corporation I would lay a few MF's on them. And what sadistic b@@@@@@ put the oil filter where they did?
All I can say is....DITO!!!
Been thru a motor, fuel pump, and the SOB is hot as hell to ride as well!!!!

I am not a Polaris guy, probably because my brother in law raced motorcycles for many years, he is and was a Honda and a Kawasaki guy, I know Polaris is just fine, several of my friends have them and love them, I have had 3 Mules and a Tyrex, I have never had a problem with any of them except for a belt or two, the new Mule will compete with the Ranger, they made it run faster and they put a suspension under it, should be a winner.

I had the 2012 Polaris Diesel Crew and I put just over 12,000 miles on it and I think if I remember right 1700 hours. Never had a problem except a rear spindle breaking and replaced a hose that rubbed against the frame. They switched from the Yanmar to Kolher if I remember now. I had the Yanmar and it was a tank!
