    Polaris Ranger alternative?

Polaris sucks. We use them A LOT but they're always breaking down. Yes, we use and abuse them but you would think for 11k (we add Kevlar tires and full skid plates) a pop they would last a little while. Out of the 5 we have 3 are constantly getting repaired. Hours on them range from 200-800 BTW.

Does anyone else make a better side x side or are they all high margin rip-off POS's?

Love my ranger. I've owned 4 in the past 5 years. They the mules are built solid. Also look at the kubota rtv. Only draw back of those is you lose ride quality. The kubota is a tank but a rough riding dude.

We have Kubotas at work but they are very new. They don't ride like a Ranger though.

Maybe stick with the Ranger but don't treat them like crap?

We have 450 hrs on our mule and are in pretty rough country. Only have had to replace belt and took it in for one tune up.

Try Google. Just about every manufacture that makes a atv will make a side by side.
The only difference is they may not have the ground clearance, the horsepower, the carrying capacity, or the smooth ride. If little things like that don't mean much to you there are several other options other than the Ranger out there for you.

My 09 Ranger has right at 4K miles and has NEVER been in the shop. Maybe I just got lucky.

IMO Rangers are by far the best!! We use the dog grap out of them everyday and have had trouble with front ends and CV boots on a regular basis. We keep ours serviced and have never had any major engine troubles at all. I don't believe you will find anything better!

Buddy of mine got one of those new Gators (825, 850, I'm not sure) and it looks better built than a Ranger. It rides pretty good as well. I've always been a die-hard Ranger fan, but I will be giving these a look when I start shopping for a crew cab.

Get a jeep. Road legal, has 4x4, a top, heat and A/C. radio is standard too.

Kawasaki came out with a new mule machine that goes faster than 25 to compete with Polaris. If its built like the regular mules the ride wont be as good but the quality will be there.

We were in the same boat as you. We had 3 of them and always had one in the shop. We traded them all in on the new gators. Now I know they aren't a ranger but they are close. We have had ours a year or more now and they haven't been in the shop which was never the case with rangers.

I got over 3,000 hours out of my last Mule. All I ever put on it was tires and a fuel pump.

Mine gets used and abused every day.

I've got buddies that like to mud their side by sides. They own can am, polaris, yamaha and kawasaki. The kawasaki teryx holds up by far the best. Not near as fast as the can am or razors but alot more dependable. Just my .02 cents

Everyone has their own opinion like Chevy, Dodge and Ford. Alot of it has to do with how you take care of your equipment. My Dad has a diesel mule with roughly 3,000 miles on it. It's been worked very hard but not abused. It's had its fair share of electrical issues. I had a kawasaki teryx carbed, not fuel injected. Biggest piece Ive ever owned. Will never buy another. The day I sold it, it only had 80 hours on it.
I now have a Ranger 900xp. No complaints what so ever. Rides like a cadillac, plenty of power and room, very quite. Around East Texas you see way more Rangers than any other brand sxs.
                              Just my 2 cents.
