Born/raised in arkansas, my dad raised me in the east texas piney woods. Only time my dad ever put our vehicles in 4x4, were at the boat ramp, and at the ranch in rocksprings.

There was the one time he pulled a 30' travel trailer with 4 cyl nissan, where he did use 4x4 to hel get it moving.

Where in the Piney woods? I was raised in the Big Thicket region of the Piney Woods? We used several times a week if it rained.

Same here, the western edge of it. Admittedly most roads we were on were paved most of the time.

I was raised 3 dirt roads back at the dead end of the third. It's still that way. County never has paved it lol.

Sounds like a wise man.... But if it's deer season....we are going in.

On a tight-line pull, most likely not. But Snatch straps are designed to be used with some slack and momentum (akin to a rubber band), where the pulling truck uses its momentum and the straps stretch/recovery to help pull the stuck truck out. That's why their better than chains when the pulling vehicle is on soft ground so the pulling vehicle isn't stationary trying to get traction and digging in.

Hell I use 4wd to get out of my backyard... but mostly to keep from digging ruts.. One of these days I'll throw down some gravel or become a big spender and get a concrete drive put in....
