This is our second year with the raised beds. We are doing the square foot garden method and it works! Our yield has been incredible! So far we have 4 4x4 beds with a few planter pots for determinate tomatoes, marigolds, and peppers.
Made some changes today. Moved the tomato and bell pepper to the middle. Gonna put cucumbers and squash on either end so I can put some trellis on either end. I think I'm gonna have to build another one for the watermelon and cantaloupe.
Look at square foot gardening by a guy named Mel. Can't think of his last name right now. I ordered the book and read it. It's the best way to do a raised bed garden for sure. I'm on my second year and my plants grow great.
I posted mine on another thread on here just can't locate the photos. Did a 8 foot by 4 foot last year and added a nother 8 x 4 this year. Bought the same Miracle gro at Lowes.

That's basically what I am doing. Lot of dead space there on what appears to be your garden flat. Is that enough to cover your families need each season?
I rough cut them from the pallet with my recip and then finish cut them with my miter saw to length. I had the boy pulling nails out of the 2x4 frame boards. Came out great. If I get some more, I'll post a video. Next project is my ranger roof.

Do you have the stamp for spacing the plants and proper layout?
I pulled the companion plants list from the farmers almanac and the squ ft farmers list. I'm using them for best yields.
For those of us that didn't seed, who has the best deals for starter plants? Home Depot had 5 plants for $10 last week. Kick myself for not taking advantage of that.

I take it from your pics, the square foot method has to do with what can be planted together in one square foot?
I did not. And I do the sqft method. His soil mixture says you don't need to. I actually put cardboard at the bottom of mine to keep weeds and grass coming up. I grew corn, potatoes, tomatoes, and all sorts of stuff in mine. Root depth was not an issue with any of mine. It's a good book to read.
