Is this a decent deal ?
I looked at this one when I bought mine a couple weeks ago. If it's in good shape that sounds like a good deal. They are $450 new at Walmart.

Thanks akey. I'll have to measure the hatch when I get home but that sure looks like the cover I need. Otherwise, there's always duct tape

I just bought a Pescador 2 weeks ago and that is the hatch cover that is on mine.

I would pass on a Sun Dolphin.

No personal experience with them. The reviews on Walmart's website looked pretty good. I just went a different route and picked up a package deal at Austin Canoe and Kayak here locally.

......and I would take his word on it more than mine. LOL, he gave me lots of tips and pointers when I bought mine.

I have no personal experience with them but I have heard they are cheaply made. Pelican is another brand that gets a lot of negative comments as well. I would personally keep looking.

That's what I would do. It is a rock solid yak.

Just did a quick search and it appears the Sun Dolphin doesn't have scupper holes. That alone would make me not buy it.

After owning half a dozen or more kayaks and being heavily involved in kayak fishing for over 10 years now, the pescador is the lowest price kayak I would ever entertain buying! Heck of a deal for what it is! Also, DO NOT skimp on a paddle! They make a HUGE difference! Think of it like buying a 22' bay boat and trying to power it with a '79 Johnson 9.9 hp!

I can't 100% disagree with this because I have never had a nice paddle but I am happy with my cheap two piece aluminum one. I stick to the creeks so that may be the difference as well just my 2 cents

What is a good paddle? I bought mine from Bass Pro.
