Mule Deer Hunting in Mexico- Too Dangerous Or No? Need Advice

I have been invited by a friend to join him on his family's place near Neuvo Casas Grandes, Mexico. I'd fly to El Paso and then we would drive the 3 hours into Mexico. Not sure if it's worth it or not. I am not willing to risk getting killed over a deer, but if it's safe then I'm certainly considering it. Has anyone hunted out that way recently? I imagine there are plenty of us who wouldn't cross the border for any reason. Might be smarter just to take that stance...

    Thoughts?

I don't know that area, but I do know that the Cartel's don't want to mess with American Hunters. I've hunted mexico for 20 years almost. No problems.....

Ask your friend what he really thinks about the situation.
I have access to 3 different ranches in Mexico but the owners keep telling me things are bad, so I don't go. But then again, I was invited to another place last year and had no hesitation in going cause my buddy said it was safe. Only work kept me here in the states, but my bags were packed.

I don't know about that area but I hunted about 2-3 hours south of Nogales for coues deer in January. No problems. We did run in to some federales with guns and that was exciting for a moment.

I would try to cross with someone who uses the area on a regular basis. Travel in daylight and go to the ranch and stay there. I would not miss the opportunity.
