My doctor just switched me to a new "A-Pap"....there is no setting for it, it adjust to how you are sleeping, it will give more or less air depending on what your body requires....I like it...

I been on mine since 2004. Take it camping with scout troop and everywhere. I can count on two hands the nights I haven't used it since getting it in 2004. Love it and use it everywhere. I have a bipap or vpap. No way I could use a cpap

I don't use a cpap or Bipap, but I put them on patients every night at work as a respiratory therapist. I see more patients that have sleep apnea that don't use them. These patients have oxygen sats that drop into the low 80s (normal is 90-100)during the night. These patients usually have heart issues as well due to not wearing them. It seems that over time CHF(congestive heart failure) seems to accompany those that have sleep apnea that don't use a corrective device. The biggest problem patients have is getting a mask to fit properly. There are many options out there. If your significant other compains of excessive snoring or they think you quit breathing for short periods of time, go have a sleep study done.

On the flip side, those that use their devices regularly, say they wake up refreshed and have more energy. They say its hard to sleep without it.

          My 2 cents....

I just started with the "A" pap machine about 2 months ago and use a mask very similar to the one shown in the top pic. Due to being a side sleeper, I have issues with the mask loosing it's contact and wakes me up. Can anyone recommend a full face (mouth and nose) mask for a side sleeper? Seems I can only wear it until about 3:00-4:00 AM before it is removed.

I don't mean to highjack your thread but seems this could be good info for all.

            Thanks,

            Doug

I did a home sleep study recently. Didn't know it was available but the doctor suggested so I applied. They send you everything with directions on how to hook everything up. When you wake up just plug it in and it sends all your info to the lab. I got a call from my Doctor the next day.

I couldn't tell you how accurate it is compared to other studies but it was super easy and beat having to spend the night at a clinic. When your done just pack it up and send it back.

I use the nose pillows and like it much better than the full face mask. But, the problem I have is I wake up in the middle of the night with a dry throat and noise. What is a fix for this? I tried the head strap to hold your mouth closed but it caused the nose pillows to pull or tighten in my nose and that was definitely waking me up at night.

I am having a sleep study done on Tuesday. I feel pretty confident that a machine will be prescribed. Question, how bad is the noise from the machine? Is it loud enough to keep my wife awake or annoyed by it?

My wife said it sounds like darth vader sleeping next to her. We started using a fan in the room just for white noise to wash out the breathing sound.

Been using one for at least 15 years. It's a life changer and saver.
Can't sleep without it. Man put it on lights deep sleep.
My wife says it's hard to sleep when I am gone because she is used to the sound of it.
All the buds call it the vader.
