Does anyone use a C-Pap breathing device?

Thinking about looking into one. Friend of mine swears by his, says he feels 10 years younger and has more energy. Looking for other users info good and bad.

Yep. Been using it for 5 years. I can sleep without it but sleep much better with it. Took me about a week to get used to the mask but stopping breathing for 60-90 seconds 3-6 times a night. That's not good on the heart! Blood pressure is back to normal and I don't feel tired all day anymore. I highly recommend it.

I work with a couple of guys that use them... they say they feel MUCH better after a good night's sleep - and their wives are much happier. However... I get SO tickled at what you look like wearing various anitsnoring devices....

      Or my personal favorite... hahahaha

I've been using mine for 10 years. I'd be dead by now if it wasn't for that machine. If I ever had to sell everything I owned that would be the last thing to go.

I have one and cannot keep it on during the night. Look into all the masks when you get one and find the most comfortable.

Ok, I am uncontrollably laughing right now because my coworker actually bought that thing. It's about $100.00 and it basically suctions your tongue out of your mouth so you don't snore. BWAHAHAHHAHA!!! But... he said he wore it the first night and about 2am ripped it out and chunked it across the room. Oh man... I have tears, so funny.

First, you need to find you a sleep doctor where he will prescribe you to have a sleep study. After the sleep study you will be advised on whether you need a C-Pap machine or something else. The sleep doctor will prescribe a machine to you and you can go to a sleep medical device company that sells the machine. Mine was covered by insurance. I have used a company called Apria and now I'm using a company called Monitor Medical. The machine must be adjusted to you and the extent of Apnea you have. You cannot just go get a machine as it must be adjusted to you and your advanced stage of apnea.
Go on the web and read about sleep apnea and what is does to you over the years, many folks have died due to complications of sleep apnea.

That's not the first thing that came to my mind when I saw that.

This. I have a buddy that has used one for years and he has to go in and get it adjusted every couple of years. he says he can tell when its time because he is tired during the day.

I saw one for sale and I was going to buy it and try it out with out going through a doctor. I guess that is not a good idea.

They have to be adjusted according to your breathing. I did my sleep study with one that goes over your nose and the guy had to come in and readjust the fit twice during the night when I moved. Not a fan of that part of it.

                            Affirmative!!
                            I'm ten years into one.
There's lots of science behind these machines. Too much is just as bad or worse than not enough.

There was another thread on here not to long ago that has lots of info.

Let me look to see if I can find it.

Been on mine for close to 20yrs. Sleep apnea is nothing to laugh about. They found a friend of mine on the side of the road in his sleeper. Apnea was determined to be cause of death.
