Doesn't hurt that it's a pretty good revenue stream, I live right by it and we drive through pretty regular for free, same with fishing.
In their defense, I've said the same about the Matador WMA. Guys there hate the hogs and encourage them to be killed during deer hunts but can't just go there to hog hunt, makes no sense. Almost like a farmer that leases his land to hunters but gets mad everytime they show up to hunt.
Both examples are huge places and could easily allow a limited number of hunters on any one day of the week to kill hogs.

Its typical government management or a lack thereof. Not to blame refuge staff but just overall leadership. If they did even just a little research with some common sense, they would find that allowing more hunts and allowing bait would dramatically increase harvest numbers. The state allows bait on some wma's and draw hunts etc. The argument over "aflatoxin" doesn't hold water because private land around refuge is slinging corn 24/7. Just like the state lands, they can require and check corn bags for aflatoxin free, just like the lead shot deal. If they really wanted to help the hog problem they could, too many liberals running things in this country!

Let's take the criticism off this thread please.
The hunt was a great opportunity.

Sure it's a great opportunity, i love hunting there and hopefully will get to many more times over the years. As i said, not bashing the refuge or it's staff, just saying the federal government doesn't have a clue about matters involving game mngt etc. When people keep complaining about the hogs and destruction of property then there needs to be some decisions made to truly control numbers. Just saying. Lol
