My neighbors dog just killed 2 of my chickens so I'm kind of on the other side of your deal. He was very apologetic and told me to find some more chickens and he would replace them. I told him that his dog came on my property and killed my chickens, but it's not the end of the world. Our agreement is that he will do a better job of keeping his dogs locked up when my chickens are free ranging and I'm fine with that. I guess what I'm saying is that a chicken or cat is not a reason to end a friendship IMO. If they can't get over it then that's on them. You have done absolutely nothing wrong.
