Has anyone read and had success with his books? Particularly "Total Money Makeover" and "Complete Guide to Money"? Any feed back is welcomed. Looking for some guidance and strategies to help elevate some of the debt we have and start planning well for our future.

I've never completely drank his Kool-aid but there is some sound wisdom in his advice. I use very little credit and do my best to pay it off asap. It's nice knowing you "own" what you bought and aren't paying interest on using it.
It's a very stress free lifestyle for sure. It will take some getting used to. Mainly telling yourself "NO" you don't need to purchase things you "WANT".

Serious man...DO IT
X2
I was amazed how much money we blew through just by not budgeting for anything

We did the class. It helped us tremendously. There will be a few in this thread before long to tell me how stupid I am for having to take the class. It is easy common sense methods, sometimes you just need a little guidance we did.
We moved to Midland debt free after taking his class. We rented for 2.5 years before we bought a house. We bought the house in september and will have it paid off in 7 years using his methods and putting a decent down payment.
We have been saving to buy my wife a new truck due to wanting more space in the back. In June we would have had enough to pay cash for a new truck. Her tahoe came up with a major electrical/computer issue and started using 2 quarts of oil per 300 miles in the last month. We got the new truck last week and will have it paid off on june due to the cash we have been saving since we paid her tahoe off. Had we not already planned to get rid of the tahoe for space issues we would have had it fixed.
Combined we dont make a lot per year, but using his methods for the last 5 years has allowed us to really manage our money. I think his retirement numbers are a little off and ive contacted a tbh financial guru to help us get going on investment/retirement/kids education this summer. His stuff works, our close friends are amazed at what weve been able to do on our income. They do give us a bit of a hard time when we will only budget to eat lunch with them at a resturaunt 2 Sundays a month. The other sundays we cook eat at the house.
Lots of folks will tell you he says to cut everything out. We found the opposite, he tells you to budget for everything. Want a new truck? Budget money each month for it and set it aside. Want a new tv? Budget money for it each month and set it aside.
Sorry for a long post, but ive drank the koolaid and its changed my family's life big time.Last edited by doublearrow; 12-11-2014, 07:39 AM.

I am not perfect, but I follow his methods pretty closely. His book made me view financing things much differently, and I feel like I am in more control of my money and have a better idea of how to plan for the long run. I will have my truck paid off a year sooner than the agreed terms (I know, it is wrong to even have a truck payment, but I am happy I have it since my old one decided to go kaputz two weeks after I bought this one). We rent a house, and I will not be financing any more vehicles. We already have 4 months gross salary in savings, and will be up to 8 months gross salary saved by next summer. Should be able to write a check for my wife's car in about a year.

Keep after it, with gazelle like intensity
The most important thing we took from his teachings was the envelopes. I was so scared we were going to have to start cheaping out on stuff, but we really didn't. Give your money a job and it's amazing how much further it goes.
