Ok, well you said there is no way he had good work hanging in his show room and I'm telling you he did. Don't know if he mounted it but it was there and I inspected every one of them.

That's a shame. Sorry that happened to you. I will say there are some places that still do great work for cheap.

Under $600 for a shoulder mount, should be getting my June axis back soon (I hope)
His work on my dad and brothers WT from last year was beautiful.

I'll bring it back to you either way. I'm in longview about once a week.

I went in that shop in mason just once. It was enough to convince me I didn't need to go back.
          Damuth. but he ain't cheap.

I would take this offer as soon as possible before my family and friends saw it. Rod is one of the good guys and can help ya get back on track.

I really appreciate the offer but I'm going to sleep on this and see how I feel tomorrow. I don't have a lot of money and if I drop another $800 on this mount I may need a divorce lawyer.

The cheap route didn't work out too well.

I would take Rod up on his offer. He already tried to point you in the right direction once.

I'm aware that Rod is a good guy. I've dealt with him face to face. Very generous offer for sure. The mount is hidden in a closet. I don't want anyone to see it in this condition.

There are hundreds of excellent taxidermists in this state. I know a bunch of them. Some are even in the Mason area and some are even on the GS. Are they cheap? No. Do they turn out quality? Yes.
There is no reason to use a hack but if you choose to and it bites you then who is to blame? Really?
There is no way that whoever mounted that axis had good work hanging in his show room. No way. If he did he didn't do it. I hope you get it worked out but getting your money back will not happen. He has rendered services and has been paid. You are in tough spot.

Don't forget that even the best of taxi's can go south on you too...I hope mine gets back on his feet. I have not caught up to see how he is doing. Haven't killed a deer worth mounting in a while & sure hope his act is together when it happens. He is quite the whitetail artist & were lucky to have one top shelf local.

This whole deal is off the chart & hopefully a lesson learned for others & using referrals / research before pulling the trigger. Bad deal all the way around & still amazed it was not a prank.

Let us know what you find out.

                            Understand....my offer still stands.

I drop stuff off at two places. Chance love and Damuth.

Both get half down and the rest when I pick up a mount.

I take that back.....I did drop off court's auodad with a guy that does probably more goats than anyone in the country. But he came very highly recommended. ....

Let me know if I can help you out.

I didn't go to him because he was cheap. I didn't think $500 was cheap. I never called Damuth because I was in Mason and it was 100 degrees and his work looked good that was on display. Obviously I made a mistake and now I'm paying for it.
