We have used two versions of these generators at our camp for the past 3 years with no issues at all. They are by far the quietest generator I have ever heard besides a Honda. I bought the $339 one and I have been running two cabins with window units and floresent bulbs for 3 years straight. 12 hours a day for 3 days a week for 3 months for 3 years. That's a total of 1,296 hours of use without a issue. It sold me.

My FIL has the $499 one and he bought it at the same time as me. He doesn't even change the oil!! He just adds new oil once a week. I was honestly impressed with them. I got tired of buying $700 dollar generators to only have them last 5 years.

Honda's may cost more, but I am still using the one that I bought in 1989 with no problems. It ran for 9 days straight after Ike. The non invertor gens from Honda are a little louder, but less money.

Went with the 5500 watt generic. The guy there heavily recommended it and it had great reviewx... anyone have one? How loud is it?

champions are tough. Ive had one for several years in my bowfishing boat. It looks like crap but runs great.

Champion 3500 from TSC here also. Very impressed so far this season running a camper. Not too loud and gets the job done.

The Honda engine is just so tough to beat...quiet and starts so easy. I have a 6500 Porter Cable w/ a Honda and the new DeWALT's with the Honda are top shelf too.

Buy once cry once...I use mine for only emergencies / hurricanes & such. I start it up ever 6-9 months and only takes one or two pulls.

Still, there is nothing worse than a loud generator at deer camp is the main thing for that application.

I was going to go with the champion but the guy there said they have more problems with champion than generic (not that there was lots of problems) and I went with the bigger one for my dad in case his power goes out in his house it can run his house too

The company I used to work for makes all the wire harnesses for Generac...from their home stand by units to those monsters like that and even the bigger that are used for back up for hospitals / hotels and such.

no and neither will my 5500 Honda. You learn fast which appliances can be run together and when you need to kill the AC before you start the microwave etc.
