Turned mine on on the way back and he said "what the &$%# is that!"..... Just an ol stream light. Worth the money

The fenix in all honesty is a great light as well, I just prefer my strion for the features you requested. Amazon is cheapest I've found
    A Fenix "something or other"?

Was that the 120 lumen something or other or the 2,800 lumen something or other or maybe one of the other 50+ lights they sell?

I work with about 130 cops that have every light known to mankind (and I might be close to that) including tons of personally bought and issued Streamlights. I get the same reaction that you got when I get out at crime scenes at night but it isn't for the Strion.

And the Strion is a great little light.

NOW you can close the thread.

I can tell Tvc184 is a night shift unit. Listen to him, his life depends on good lighting.

I recommend the swapable sticks as well. This coming from someone with roughly 300 bucks in streamlights after upgrades in batteries and lamps.

I also have a phenix and a rigid that run on the 1860 battery. I actually like the phenix better than the strion, stinger and either of my sl20's

Go on tmart. I have a flashlight I got from them with a charger and two batteries for like $25 and it's 1000 lumens. Best light I've owned and have a handful of streamlights, surefires, and fenix lights. Just my .02

Lots of choices. What if I dropped the rechargeable requirement? Something to be said for popping in a new set of batteries when it is needed.

Like Tvc184 said. You can get LED lights that will run off one 18650 rechargeable or two CR123 batteries.

The only thing you have to be on the look out for is if the light can take at least 6V for the CR123's.

Getting a light like that allows you to use both options. You can get CR123's just about everywhere you normally buy batteries.

Solarforce makes some awesome components to assemble exactly the light you want for very reasonable prices. I've built a number of lights with their stuff. It's very good and easily upgradeable in the future.

Brighter than my Streamlight was and I don't have to re-charge it

Fenix tk15 is a solid light, just not rechargeable. Meets your other requirements though.

I like my Fenix TK11 a lot. It was right in the price range you are asking about. It takes the 18650's referenced above and it's nice to have backup batteries charged up and ready to go.
