After helping look for a deer last night with a crap arse light I have decided I need a new one. A GOOD new one. Here are my requirements:

    Rechargeable
    Reliable
    Bright
Would love to stay in the $75-80 range...maybe a touch more.

SAMs club sells a 2 pack of led flashlights for $20. They are the brightest light I have and work great. You will be surprised.

I would wonder what you call rechargeable. There are a lot of lights now on the market that use the 18650 battery stick which is only rechargeable. There are no use and throw away sticks. The difference in that and other rechargeable lights is that you have to unscrew the tail cap and replace the stick. The 18650 is the same as two CR123A batteries combined into one. They will last for maybe a couple of hundred charges for good ones.

Looking at what is out there for the 18650 it opens up way more options that the purely plug in rechargeable and it also has the emergency option of simply tossing in two CR123A batteries in without the need to recharge.

I quit the dedicated, has to be recharged in a cradle, crowd long ago. When I am out on patrol and need light, it is easy to change out the 18650 or toss in a couple of CR123A batteries that last forever on the shelf without having to buy extra expensive recharge sticks for lights like the Stinger and then having to keep them charged. The 18650 style lights also tend to come a lot smaller and truly compact than lights such as the Stinger unless you call a 9 inch light compact.

And if you want cheap and an 18650 light, check out the many Ultra-Fire lights for as little as $10 or maybe less. They are very strong but I am not sure of their reliability of banged around. I have maybe four of them and have yet to break one but a $10 light made in China always has me wondering. That is why I have several of them.

If you want a more quality light, check out the Fenix PD35. About the size of a roll of nickels and stunningly bright.

Stream light strion- done close thread

One guy I hunt with has a fenix something another. It's bright too and cheaper. He went through 1 hr of telling me reviews and how this 9billion lumen thing was better than sure fire and stream light. I just nodded

Turned mine on on the way back and he said "what the &$%# is that!"..... Just an ol stream light. Worth the money

The fenix in all honesty is a great light as well, I just prefer my strion for the features you requested. Amazon is cheapest I've found

Agreed! Most of the cradle charge jobs are junk. 18650 Li-Ion led lights are the way to go. Just be aware that some LED lights won't take 6V from two CR123's. So be advised, read you specs!

Interstate battery makes (or sells under their name) a really bright light that has rechargeable batteries. I think it's 600 lumens. I think I paid $70

I bought a steamlight at Academy a couple weeks ago ofr around $80, it has 630 lumens and is a great light. I then bought 10 rechargable batteries with charge for $25, I am probably going to buy another one to keep at the house.
