I was on Ambien for over a year. It finally got to the point that it didn't work any more. Talk about a rough withdrawal when I quit! I would literally sleep every 3 nights. I still take 1/2 of one on occasion if I'm sleeping somewhere other than home but I don't take it more than once every few months.

I am the same way. I take magnesium tables at nigh and it has helped a bunch when I remember to take them.

I'm in the same boat. When I do sleep all night, I am not resting. Going to try Zquil or Benadryl just don't need to be sluggish the next day.

Sounds like more a stress/anxiety issue. Been there brother and still happens every now and then. I hate when my mind races like that at night. You feel beat to heck the next day. Work was my main culprit. I will just take something to knock me out like an antihistamine. They make me drowsy as heck. lol

cpap machine made all the difference in the world for me. I sleep like a rock all night long now. If you're a big time snorer you might oughta check out the sleep study angle. best Dr. to see for that, at least for the insurance i have, was to go to a pulminary doctor for the referral.
