I am the same way. Not necessarily the door, but I don't want my back to the open.

Yes and I also try to park where I can see my vehicle through a window.

I sit facing the door; preferably in the back by a window or exit. My uncle taught me that. Additionally, I try to take note of my surroundings and potential persons of interest. Paranoid? Prolly, but this is a screwed up world we're living in now.

Not paranoid at all. I can enjoy the heck out of my meal. Just being prepared, an always aware of my surroundings. I don't wanna be a victim if it can be avoided. It's really just habit now. I haven't thought about it until I heard the guy next to me admit being a door watcher.

Wife's cousin is an internationally known counter-surveillance (how to discover if you are being tailed) guy and I've picked up a bunch of habits just from listening to him and watching a few of his lectures/presentations.

Rule #1--always have a way out--and watch the way in.

I always sit back to a wall and facing door or at least the open area someone enters the establishment. If I can see the register area as well that a plus. My girlfriend of about 6 months, is just now starting to get the hang of it. At first I'm pretty sure she thought I was a nut job. Also don't carry inner waist band when I'm sitting down at a booth or chair, I'll readjust so it is not so constricted to draw.

I had a friend that told me " I can't sit with my back to the door......too many enemies" I told him I thought it was because he was nosey and had to see who was coming in.

Me too. Don't like to have my back to the door. Wife automatically sits at 90 degrees from me, knowing I will watch the door.

Same here. Also go in stall and shut the door rather than using a urinal if possible. Crazy world, I don't feel paranoid or afraid just intentional about getting home tonight.
