I don't worry about facing the door so much, but I have to be facing out to on coming people. I got knocked out of my chair from behind a long time ago for being at dinner with someone who shouldn't have been there with me. She didn't let me know that and I was un prepaired. It cost me and another fellow a trip to the ER and then the jail house.

So did Wild Bill Hickok, unfortunately, the man who shot him came in the back door.

Yes I do. Something I picked up from my dad. Hes a leo and something he has always done. Its funny cause my wife will look and see what chair to sit in so I can see the door.

It is understood in my family that Dad will sit facing the door.....without question.

Ever since L.E. training in '94... Been a certified door watcher myself.

Wife understands completely and is happy to give me that chair.

What was funny was when all us LE guys would go to our annual training and then go out to eat. The musical chairs when we all sat down was hilarious to watch. More than one waitress just shook her head at us all.

Thats me.. My wife cracked jokes at first but has since embraced it and makes sure I have a chair that I can see the door and preferably my back against the wall. There are a few people that I trust to have that seat and will give it up to them if they beat me to it but not many if I can help it.

definitely face the entrance, or as close to that direction as i can. if i have an option, i always ask to sit along the perimeter as opposed to the middle or center areas.
